Factory reset Vizio TV - Hard Master Reset

A factory reset of your VIZIO Smart TV will back it to the default settings. Of course, you can do a reset for any reason but this is the first step to solving your TV troubleshooting. It can solve many soft problems with your TV such as sound, lagging or freezing, internet connection, apps crashing, black screen, etc.

The resetting procedure will return your TV to the factory settings and remove all personal settings, TV channels, apps, networks, pictures, audio settings, etc.

Also, you should understand there is a lot of model and series of Vizio TV so the reset process may have a little different from model to model.

How to reset Vizio tv without remote

You cannot do a factory reset Vizio TV without a remote if it has no hardware buttons on the back of the TV. (Only power button) However, do not worry if your remote control is broken. There is a lot of universal remote control for your TVs on the market.

Some models of Vizio TV support “Smartcast”. If your TV supports this, then you can download the Vizio Smartcast app to your phone and access the menus through it.

But if your TV has Power, Volume Down/UP, and Input buttons you can do a factory reset without a remote.

Vizio Tv reset without remote:

Press and hold the Volume Down and Input buttons at the same time.
You will see a banner appear at the top of the screen that will ask you to release the Volume Down while still holding the input button.
After about 10 seconds, the TV will perform a factory reset.

1^st way to do a factory reset Vizio TV

Press Menu
Go to System
Find and press Reset & Admin
Go to Reset TV to Factory Defaults and press OK
May ask pin code (password) (Vizio’s default pin code is 0000)
The TV will be restarted and the initial setup will appear.

2nd way

Press Menu
Find and Press INFO
Go to Clear Memory (Factory Default)
May ask pin code (password) (The default pin code is 0000)
The TV will be restarted and the initial setup will appear.

Vizio Service Menu

Turn the TV off.
Press and hold the {CH +} & {CH -} buttons on the TV.
Then press and release the {POWER} button on the TV.
Release the {CH +} & {CH -} buttons. ( if not work keep all three buttons pressed for a few seconds)
Now press the {MENU} button on the remote.
You should get your regular menu up, but with an “F” in the bottom right corner of the menu (This is for the factory).
Press and hold the {MENU} button for a few seconds.
The Service Menu should be displayed.

Another way to reset Vizio Tv is with a combination of keys.

Reset User Account on Vizio Netflix

From the first selection screen, you are in on the Netflix app, press the following buttons on your remote: up. up. down. down. left. right. left. right. up. up. up. up.
A screen should come up with the account information attached to the Netflix app as well as the software version.
Select Disable with your remote.
This will remove your account from the Netflix app allowing you to re-link your tv to a new account or reset a broken Netflix app.
