Use one of two options to perform a hard reset of the Nokia Lumia 530:
Hard Reset Nokia Lumia 530 from the Settings Menu
Note: by resetting your smartphone from the Settings menu, you will restore the original factory settings and delete any personal data in the internal storage — downloaded content, ringtones, images, apps, contacts, etc. It is very important to back up this data on a removable storage device before resetting this device. Data stored on the SIM or SD card is not deleted.
To perform a master reset, follow these steps:
- Back up any information that you have stored in the internal storage of the device.
- From the Start screen, touch the screen and slide left.
- Scroll down to and touch Settings.
- Touch About.
- Scroll down to and tap Reset Your Phone.
- Read the prompt about your personal content being erased and if you agree, touch Yes.
- Touch Yes again to confirm.
Lumia 530 hard reset via Hardware Keys
Just like when resetting via the Settings Menu, resetting your Nokia Lumia 530 via hardware keys will restore the original factory settings and delete any personal data on the internal storage (downloaded content, ringtones, images, apps, and contacts). It is very important to back up data prior to resetting the device. The data stored on the SIM or SD card is not deleted.
A master reset via hardware keys is very useful in case the device menus are frozen or unresponsive. To perform a master reset, follow these steps:
- Back up any data stored on the internal memory of the handset.
- Turn off the phone.
- Then press the Power key to turn the phone on
- Immediately press and hold the Volume Down button.
- An exclamation mark (!) will appear on the display.
- Press the following buttons in order (Note: nothing will change on the screen while entering the sequence of buttons):
- Press the Volume Up key
- Press the Volume Down key
- Press the Power key
- Press the Volume Down key
- Your Nokia Lumia 530 will automatically reset.
