Imagine that you came home from work and want to watch your favorite TV show, but as soon as you start watching, the TV turns itself off every few minutes. It seems to me that this would annoy even the biggest optimist.
TV plays an important role in social development and information transmission, so malfunctions such as turning on or off by themselves can be uncomfortable. Samsung is the leader in the TVs market worldwide. But even such a good manufacturer sometimes has problems with the operation and normal functioning of the equipment.
In this post, we will analyze the problem of why the Samsung tv turns on by itself. Let’s start by looking at the factors that cause this problem.
Checklist to solve Tv problems turn on/off by itself
- Unplug the TV from the outlet for 30 seconds.
- Check your TV settings (The Power Save function turns off the TV to save power when there is no input signal for a set time.)
- Settings -> General -> Energy Saving -> Auto Power Off -> Select Off
- Sleep timer settings
- Settings -> General -> System Manager -> Time -> Sleep timer -> Select Off.
- Software updates
- Settings -> Support -> Software Update -> Update Now (need internet connections)
- Hard reset (how to do it on Samsung tv read here or here via menu)
- Check the cable connections
- If you have the box, game console, PC, or other external devices connected to your TV, unplug the power cords of the external devices and then plug them back in or try without them. If the source to which your TV is connected turns off, the TV screen may go black.
- If no external devices are connected to the TV, select “TV” for “Sources”. (Settings -> Source -> TV) (not HDMI or another one)
- Be sure to use a certified HDMI cable. If you use a non-certified HDMI cable, the screen may be black or you may get a connection error.
- If you use a surge-protected power outlet – try to turn on another one without protection.
- Broken power button
- You need to find the ON/OFF key on the case and make sure it works fine. (try to turn on/off your TV)
- Inspect the remote control
- Change the battery if it is low (you will see it when you press any keys and nothing happens or need to press a few times to get what you need). The low battery can cause the on/off problems
Attention. If your TV on warranty doesn’t do these steps. If you remove the backboard your warranty will be lost.
- Dust accumulation
- The accumulation of dust can conduct current, thereby provoking a short circuit due to which the smart TV is randomly started and turned off. To fix this problem, you need to remove the backboard and carefully vacuum up the dust.
- If you open the backboard try to unplug the connectors wire from your TV power board and plug it back
- Try to check Capacitors, diodes, ICs, and fuses of course if you know how to do it.
